HL is the spatial location grammar underneath HIL. It gives structures, zones, walls, levels, and positions a consistent, machine-readable form. The grammar can be used independently — the HIL platform adds accounts, records, tools, relationships, and services around it.

It started with Dr. Piper.

He was a country vet in Sharon, Wisconsin who spent a lifetime collecting things that mattered to him — and he took chickens and handshakes instead of money.

When he died, the family held an auction. They walked away with $1,200. The things didn't have stories attached. So they sold for nothing.
